First look: Controversial Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU breaks ground

Construction is ready to begin on the much-debated new Omni Hotels & Resorts hotel being built in Tempe on the campus of Arizona State University.

Omni Hotels, along with ASU and the city of Tempe, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project on Sept. 17. Owners also unveiled renderings of the upcoming hotel for the first time.

The Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU will be a 330-room, 16-story hotel that will be built at 7 E. University Drive in Tempe. It is expected to be open in the spring of 2023.
